The Week Ahead: Boys High School Lacrosse
The Chaminade Flyers (NY) held on for a tight victory over CHSAA rival St. Anthonys (NY) on Thursday evening at St. Anthonys High School. It was the second of the presumed three annual meetings between the Long Island powers. Chaminade pushed its 2013 record to 13-1. Meanwhile, St. Anthonys suffered its third setback of the season and second to the Flyers and fell to 11-3. Chaminade took leads of 5-2 and 6-4 in the second half, but with both teams playing excellent settled defense they were unable to pull away until the final minute, where a big faceoff win and empty-net goal sealed the victory. ...

Boys High School Weekend Recap: April 1
It was a loaded weekend in boys lacrosse action, with two big upsets of note on Saturday. No. 6 La Salle College High School (PA) traveled to No. 4 Garden City (NY) and took down the Trojans by a final score of 7-4. It was a great defensive game in which the Explorers used two quick goals by Maryland-bound Senior Matt Rambo at the start of the second half to take a 4-2 lead and never looked back. The win snapped a 24-game winning streak for Garden City. ...

Game Observations: La Salle (PA) 7, Garden City (NY) 4
The La Salle Explorers notched a huge road victory on Saturday over Garden City. Garden City had won 24 consecutive games, their last loss coming in the 2011 New York State Championship Game. They entered the game with a 2-0 record this season, including a big win over Loyola-Blakefield (MD) at M&T Bank Stadium. La Salle entered the game 1-0, with an impressive win over DeMatha (MD) by a 9-6 score. The game was a defensive battle, with La Salle breaking a 2-2 tie at halftime with two quick markers to begin the third quarter en route to the win. ...
