Grit is not just the name of my beach team; it is what playing sports has taught me. Whether it be standing on the pitching mound with the game on the line or battling for my black belt, grit means digging deep and finding strength when you think there is nothing left. Mental toughness occurs only when you are pushed to the limit. When I tried indoor volleyball in 6th grade, I loved it so much that I quit all my other sports. A silver lining of COVID was it introduced me to beach. I was hesitant as it seemed hard, hot, and buggy, but after my first practice, I was hooked. Beach was much harder, but even more rewarding. My partners and I had to depend fully on each other. I would drive myself to not let my partner down. I love this sport, and I hope I can keep playing it all of my life.
