Avery Wilkes

Being a goalkeeper requires different skills and tactics than most players. It takes a strong sense of communication, reaction, physicality, and most importantly, mental stability. I always strive to be a leader on my team and influence my teammates not only by example, but by being encouraging and uplifting. Performance is very important to me, so each practice I’m always pushing myself to be the best I can and learning from the mistakes I’ve made. My love for soccer revolves around the fact that my position is different than everyone else on the field. Being a goalkeeper has given me so many strengths that not many other players have, and one of those strengths is tremendous mental stability under pressure. I love being able to stand out in a unique way compared to my teammates.
