The Nike Elite 120 showcased some excellent lacrosse players on Saturday and Sunday, January 19 and 20, at the Indoor Sports Pavilion in Randolph, New Jersey. Member Commitment: Kyle Cornell, Class of 2014, Bryant University

The weekend in the boy’s high school landscape was highlighted by a couple of big games between some of the best teams in the country. On Long Island, there was a huge non-league contest pitting one of the best in Nassau County against one of the best in Suffolk as Garden City (NY) traveled to Ward Melville (NY). In a tight defensive battle, the 631 area code came out on top, as the Patriots defeated the visiting Trojans, 7-3. As we noted in our game observations last week, Melville’s defense has been impressive this season. They continued their solid play Saturday, holding Garden City to just three goals while the team’s offense went on a 4-0 fourth-quarter run to break a 3-3 deadlock. A huge win for the Patriots, who are one of the best teams in the country thus far at 9-0. Garden City fell to 6-2. ...
