The Conversation

What are you most excited about with regards to your program?

The contributions our men make off the field

Tell us about your transition from player to college coach?

Played for a great coach in John Klepacki at WNE. Learned more about the defensive end of the ball and the little details that go into building a team culture outside of the X’s an O’s. It’s not a pretty lifestyle, you have to embrace that you make sacrifices for your guys to give them the best experience possible.

What jumps out at you when recruiting? What do you look for in a player?

Athleticism, Toughness, Love of the game

What are your “pet peeves” when recruiting?

low effort, giving up, selfish

What is the best way interested student-athletes should get in touch with you?

Personal email that speaks to why you are interested in Lasell, I do not like generic copy and paste emails

What should student-athletes avoid in their messaging to college coaches?

vague, not listing reasons why you are interested in that school

How would you describe your coaching style?

Up tempo, High energy, Push you to achieve your highest potential on and off the field

Walk us through your timeline when recruiting a student athlete?

See them play at least once hopefully twice, have them on campus for an official visit. Find out what their timeline is and work ours into it.

What kind of players succeed at your program?

Players who accept a given role within the team, whether you are a first line midfielder or just someone who takes face off wings and we need a big ground ball. When you accept the role and do it with all you have you and we have success.

What’s your recruiting strategy going into an event? After an event?

I am open eyes and ears, every opportunity is a chance to be evaluated positively or negatively, I may write a negative note then scribble it out for a positive note or vice versa, this can change the second game I see someone as well. Depending on the time of year I may be looking for more specific’s but early in a class its any position, you could also be playing one position but I may see you fitting in our system at something else, this would be communicated to that person in the process.

Once again, thanks to Bill for his time, and best of luck to Lasell this season!
