Tess Hellweg-Lyons

In terms of my athletic goals for college, I am hungry to win and I am not deterred by fierce competitors or losses. Every athlete has losses, but the best athletes learn the most from their losses and it only makes them stronger. I believe my strength as a goalie is that I am always focused on the ball in front of me; I don’t dwell on the ball that might have gotten past me in a prior play. This attitude has allowed me to stay positive on the field and to focus my efforts on being the final line of defense for the team. My teammates will tell you that I am vocal on the field, constructing my defensive strategy and clearly communicating it to my defensive players. The game isn’t over until the final buzzer, and I am the goalkeeper who will keep spirits up and keep my team in the game!
