I’m Matthew Southworth and I'm a South African swimmer with the dream of studying and competing in the USA. I am the captain of Milnerton High School's swim team next year and I have had a senior leadership role at my swimming club (Cybersmart) for the last 2 years. Team culture is very important to me and when given the opportunity, I take my leadership roles seriously both in and out of the pool. I’m passionate, hardworking, and I'm excited about the opportunity to represent a college team. Outside of the pool, I occasionally compete in open water events as well as spending time with friends and family. I am driven by a deep passion for swimming and a desire to be successful in my studies, while maintaining a strong work ethic which will help me reach that dream.
