Personal Statement
Ever since I was 2 years old I've loved playing softball. When I am not playing with my team my Dad will take my three siblings and me to a field to practice and play some more. As I have grown older, I've learned that softball is more then just winning and losing. Its about being a part of a team that helps each other through the ups and downs of this game. As a Type 1 diabetic since I was 3, I have learned that I need to work extra hard and be dedicated in my preparation, nutrition and taking good care of my body. These steps have allowed me to compete at a high level and I haven't missed an inning due to my disease the past 3 seasons. While living with diabetes makes some things harder it has taught me so much about hard work and my appreciation for this game and those around me.
