An Interview With: Texas Top 99 Director Jack Sandler

We were fortunate to catch up with Jack Sandler, the Head Coach at Colby College and Director of Texas Top 99, which takes place this weekend at the Greenhill School in Addison, Texas. Entering its 12th year, Texas Top 99 is the premier boys high school recruiting event in Texas, featuring some of the top players in the State. The event is run by an impressive group, which in addition to Coach Sandler includes Notre Dame Assistant Gerry Byrne and Navy Assistant Ryan Wellner. The Top 120 DIII Showcase took place at Chelsea Piers CT in Stamford, Connecticut on Saturday, December 7 and Sunday, December 8. The event, run by Nor’easter Lacrosse and Chelsea Piers CT, featured members of the Class of 2015 playing in front of some of the best DIII programs in the country. Players participated in cross-field stations run by college coaches and also played full-field scrimmages over the two day event. We were fortunate to catch up with Peter Tumbas, the Director of the American Revolution Lacrosse Club and upcoming Pittsburgh Holiday Camp, which will debut December 21st and 22nd at the Southpointe Fieldhouse in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. An Interview With: Mid-Atlantic Elite Lacrosse Winter Showcase Co-Founder Brooke Diamond O’Brien

We were fortunate to catch up with Brooke Diamond O’Brien, the head coach at Washington and Lee University and Co-Founder of the Mid-Atlantic Elite Lacrosse Winter Showcase, which will debut January 4th, 2014 at the Roland Park School in Baltimore, Maryland. O’Brien is currently in her seventh season as the head coach at Washington and Lee, where she has been named the ODAC Coach of the Year in three of her first six seasons at the helm. The Generals have won five ODAC titles over that span. A former standout goaltender at Amherst College, O’Brien led her team to an NCAA Championship in 2003. In her playing career, she was a two-time First Team All-America and two-time Kelly Award winner, given annually to the DIII Goalkeeper of the Year. The Mid-Atlantic Elite Lacrosse Winter Showcase is a one-day instructional recruiting showcase designed for elite level 2015 and 2016 student-athletes who are exploring DIII opportunities. The day will feature a unique blend of coaching, instruction and education aimed at increasing the awareness of attendees to opportunities at the DIII level. We were fortunate to catch up with Ryan McClernan, Founder and Executive Director of the BLC Crabs. A 25-year coaching vet, McClernan has also served as a two-time selector for the U19 Team USA and was the 2003 World Games Chairman for US Lacrosse. He is the Founder and Executive Director of the BLC Crabs, which began in 1990. Below is our Q & A with Ryan, who discusses the evolution of the Crabs, what recent changes may affect recruiting and what players should try to work on to improve their games.
