D3 Lacrosse Showcase All-Star Team: Midfield

On Monday, January 21 at the Indoor Sports Pavilion in Randolph, New Jersey, nearly 160 athletes competed at the inaugural D3 Showcase presented by SportsRecruits.com. The action was solid all day, with 10 teams playing three games apiece. Each team was led by a DIII head or assistant coach and chosen at random prior to the showcase. There was plenty of talent on hand, with many players making a mark on the coaches assembled. While certainly not an all-encompassing list, we put together a list of standouts – three from each position, plus a long-stick midfielder, faceoff-man and goalie. Here is a look at our All-Star Midfield, including the long-stick middie and faceoff positions. ...

Coming Soon: Game Coverage

The weekend in the boy’s high school landscape was highlighted by a couple of big games between some of the best teams in the country. On Long Island, there was a huge non-league contest pitting one of the best in Nassau County against one of the best in Suffolk as Garden City (NY) traveled to Ward Melville (NY). In a tight defensive battle, the 631 area code came out on top, as the Patriots defeated the visiting Trojans, 7-3. As we noted in our game observations last week, Melville’s defense has been impressive this season. They continued their solid play Saturday, holding Garden City to just three goals while the team’s offense went on a 4-0 fourth-quarter run to break a 3-3 deadlock. A huge win for the Patriots, who are one of the best teams in the country thus far at 9-0. Garden City fell to 6-2. ...
