On April 1st, 2017, Brunswick took on rival and #2 ranked (UA/IL Top 25 HS rankings) Deerfield Academy in what historically is always a competitive game. Brunswick, ranked #16, used a big first-half to take down Deerfield in convincing fashion 11-6. Prior to this game, Brunswick had only beaten Deerfield twice in it's programs history.
